This inspirational book is for those who love nature and gardening; and for those who enjoy listening to the beautiful songs of the birds. My garden is a symbol of love for my parents and the legacy they left for my family and me. For me, the garden conveys a connection with nature and my childhood. I have unforgettable memories. It also symbolizes my love for my parents and appreciation for the legacy they left behind. They are with me in my glorious garden all the time. Our home in Armenia was adorned with beautiful flowers that glowed and glittered under the golden beams of the sun. So is my garden, in a secret corner of my Los Angeles backyard. This book also refers to the mother-daughter relationship. With both sweet and sorrowful tears, I dedicated this book to my dearest daughter, Anoush. Knowing her own family story, Anoush would know where she came from and where she is heading. My book also embraces those who immigrated to the United States from other countries. It is about parents, grandparents, children, and grandchildren. It is about five generations living together in the twenty-first century in harmony. It is an interesting, exciting, and fulfilling opportunity for each generation to live together and learn from each other. It speaks of family relationships mainly concentrates on mother-daughter and father-daughter relationships. The family legacy continues in those families where relationships are clear and clean, there is mutual respect for each other, and positive approaches are used to deal with family issues. In these families, nobody is alone. They solve their problems together. It pulls in precepts from educators as well. It clearly shows how the community and schools effect our children's development.

Her love of nature is so vividly depicted throughout the book By nora As I read Nora Aharonian's book, it is as though I walk through the memory path of my childhood. Her love of nature is so vividly depicted throughout the book. The colorful details and poetic portrayal of her family garden surely touches the reader’s heart. The respect she bears for her parental upbringing, the honor she feels for her roots, and the maternal love that gushes out of her heart are quite apparent as one follows each chapter. It takes courage to put one’s thoughts onto paper. Nora shows the unwavering passion to point out her views and philosophy. Her love for family ties, her experiences, and her yearning to help the young generation have driven her to write this most beautiful and inspiring piece. The book is for everyone… for the young and old alike… everyone, no doubt will take something from it and hopefully benefit.Gayane Muradian

Nora's debut novel offers a unique perspective that most authors today do not address - the importance of tradition in the modern family. Nora's book is spilt into three parts: (1) growing up in Armenia and the immigration of her family to the US; (2) advice for stregthening relationships between family members; and (3) the relationship with her daughter. Growing up in traditional Armenia, Nora discusses her relationship with her family and the love of her garden. Having learned many lessons from observing her family, she offers advice for how today's modern family may benefit from the successes of a traditional family. She applies the same points of view in discussing modern education, and offers advice for how today's students can benefit from learning more from their families, and how educators can assist students by emphasizing both ethics and discipline. The books last few chapters discuss her relationship with her daughter and the issues faced by a child caught between a traditional family and a modern American culture. The strong mother-daughter bond is a significant contributor to the success of the family.A memorable insight is Nora's definition of marriage as "togetherness." In today's world, when the mere definition of marriage is constantly questioned, Nora sums it up best and her definition leaves a memorable impression upon the reader.I enjoyed reading Nora's book because it offers suggestions that we hear less and less today - that a return to traditional family roles and values can contribute to the success of the family. It is a very interesting perspective relevant to any parent, educator, or any reader reminiscent of a time lost long ago.

It tells not only a passionate story of the author's life journey, but also educates the reader on various aspects of life, both personal and parental. This book would be greatly beneficial to people with different cultural backgrounds. After all, we can all learn the good traits that each culture presents, especially the one described in this book.
