About the Author Dr. Billy Bishop practiced pediatric dentistry for thirty-six years. During this period he served as President of the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry and as President of the University of Alabama Dental Alumni Association. He has held part-time clinical appointments at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Reading—particularly Southern Literature—and bass fishing are his hobbies. Along with his wife, he lives in Birmingham where they reared their three daughters. Saturday Mornings is his first book.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great book! By Tim Clark I loved this book! It is inspirational, humorous, insightful, and articulate. Dr. Bishop writes about those people who greatly influenced his life to prepare him for the struggles we all face with fear, insecurity, and devastating injustice. I loved the names of the people who launched him into manhood, Willemma, Ruben,Ruthie, Tallulah, Jarman, to name a few. Parents, teachers, mentors, friends and pastors in the Selma community are the folks he aptly describes that shaped his character. I loved the quotes used at the beginning of each chapter, from Uncle Richard to Homer, appropriate and well said. I loved his story about dropping the communion tray in church, about earning Eagle Scout, about working to buy a bike, about his mission service in Venezuela, and the progression to becoming a celebrated Pediactric Dentist. His soul searching fight to forgive those who wronged him was deeply heart felt, and something we all must deal with at one time or another. I look forward to more books written by Dr. Bishop, and highly recommend this to all lovers of the words.

By Denise George A gifted story-teller with an incredible sense of humor, William Bishop shares wonderful stories from his childhood and past--delightful experiences that older folks can remember and identify with, and younger folks can see American life as it used to be. By Pettway The rich story telling is evident throughout each episode, and the book works on that level. But more interestingly, the book culminates into some very important life lessons. I recommend the book to anyone interested in examining a life especially if it is their own.
