Kristen blew me away with this one! I honestly didn’t think that I would love anyone as much as I loved Trina & Shadow, but WOW! I DID!!! Talk about a powerful & heartfelt story!! Kristen doesn't shy away from anything and that is just one of the reasons that this story - and series - is so FANGTASTIC!! Thankfully one crucial part - the game changer of the series - is NOT detailed! I don't know if I would have been able to handle it! I loved the story, the characters and every other piece & part that you will find in this book (and again - the series)! I love that the guys are wolf shifters helping out the girls at the animal shelter, even fostering or planning to foster the animals! What Kiera has gone through to bring her here to this point is beyond horrific! I was so proud of her for taking the steps she did with Baron even if they were done for different reasons. She was ready even if she couldn't fully see that. And then there is Baron! I was equally proud of him too for how he dealt with Kiera, helped her and seemed to know just what she needed to hear & feel. Very touching scenes that had ME holding my breath with them!! I loved the fairy tale story within the story! Talk about fate! I cried multiple times throughout this story, which in my opinion shows just how PAWMAZING the writing is! I was able to delve deeper, past 'just' reading the book, to being able to see everything from the people to the wolves, the dogs, bunnies and the other shelter animals, to see the mountains, the snow, the shelter itself and everything else as it unfolded. But the single quality that I love to find in the books I read, is the ability to become one with the characters and the story. To not only love (or hate) the characters, or to feel for them, but to be able to BE the characters, to feel and experience WITH them - that is what makes the story come fully alive for me. With Kristen's phenomenal talent I all but expect to have these same feelings & connections in all of her books, and I have in every single one I have read so far. For some reason, this story & series, touches me, touches my reading soul even deeper than what usually happens with Kristen's books! And that is saying A LOT! I think it’s a mix between the story subject and the author's obvious love for her characters, their situations & their world! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series! Then read them again, straight through from the first book to the last, but this time without that pesky waiting time between releases. :-)

He needs to figure out how to end the fighting and still protect the person he cares deeply about.Kiera was a soldier. She grew up an only girl in a house full of boys. She was sent to Forever Home for rehabilitation for PTSD. She never thought that the animals could help her! But when a rescued werewolf sees her in a way no one else ever has, it helps her take the steps to open herself to a whole new world. One without hiding!A truly great story of two people trying to find themselves on totally different paths then they ever expected. Will their paths stay in the same direction or are do they have to many differences to overcome?

The characters become real to you because the books are not about just one couple but everyone interacts in each book. You learn their feelings, how they think, how they survive. I plan on rereading them once they are all out because I am sure I have missed things.
