0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Look out Weaponeer By Phillip Schultz This is one of the graphic novels that I received in the Powerless box from Comic Bento.Ninjak is a super-spy. He works unofficially for MI6 doing missions that they do not want connected to them. Sometimes this includes assassinations. Plus, he has all sorts of cool equipment to help him pull off his missions.In Weaponeer, he is hired to infiltrate and take down the largest black weapons dealer in the world. This is a fast paced story that really shows off Ninjak's skills, from interpersonal to fighting. The story weaves together the past and present to give an understanding of Ninjak and carry along the plot.There is also a small section at the end of each chapter titled "Lost Files" that tells the reader about his early career. This could have made things pretty muddled, but I feel like the creators did a nice job pulling it off.I do have one quibble with the main plot toward the end of the book, but it is such a fun read that I will let it slide. Looking forward to more Ninjak.

Great solo showcase By Matt Conner Ninjak has been a charming supporting character in X-O Manowar and Unity, but this solo title is a chance for him to deepen. Matt Kindt takes the storytelling mastered in Mind MGMT and uses it to explore Ninjak as a traumatized child of wealth who has become a ninja and spy. The writing is as tense as one of the hero's grappling lines, and the Clay Mann's art is as sexy and stylish as his work on James Asmus's Gambit. Valiant delivers yet again.

Disappointingly center of the road By Drown Hollum Valiant's Ninjak ongoing ends up disappointingly center of the road, closer to Unity than to Divinity, in terms of Kindt's other work with the company. The story is a focused, almost interesting, Batman meets Bond spy story. There are some groovy eastern elements, making up a unique sub-plot, but everything else is predictable spy-action, free of surprise or intrigue. Clay Mann's art is acceptable, but nothing stunning (standard for a Valiant book), while Kindt's story never really figures itself out, with boring dialogue, and dull, static characters. None of this is to say that Ninjak doesn't have potential, and if you are a big espionage buff, you'll probably find more to enjoy here than I did, but Ninjak is far from a must-read. I might poke my head up for volume two if I hear good things though, the Shadow Seven COULD be an interesting concept, depending on the execution.
