A good history of the breeding of the local area Holsteins and of the State. Great capture of the area family histories and the cattle they worked with.

Even more so as it tells the history of the county and surrounding counties from the early 1800's as it relates to agriculture, industries in the county that manufactured machines for farming,and how the general economy affected farming. It is interesting to see how changes in technology influenced the farming community and to see how forward thinking farmers have always been in this county. The registered Holstein program allowed farmers to greatly increase milk production and ultimately their bottom line. Although information about specific pedigrees may not be interesting to some, the historical information about western NY is very interesting.
