Nia Martins believes that a fresh start will help her leave her traumatic past behind. Moving to a different country, she seeks to shake off her demons by doing the one thing that sets her free from her destructive thoughts-teaching dance. But change doesn't come easy, and all Nia really wants is to take the next breath without the perpetual suffocation that follows. Reeves Mitchell has looked death in the eye so many times that it has become habitual. That is, until his best friend's life was on the line. When the one thing he feared the most turns into reality, all that Reeves can do is pick up the pieces of his loss. As he tries to live with it, he persistently and steadily builds a thick wall around himself. Nia's and Reeves's solitary lives are all they have-until fate brings them together. Nia and Reeves's new friendship helps make life, shadowed by the ghosts of their past, more bearable. But can they ever break free from the chains of the past? Contains mature themes.

Robinson 2.5 - "Hey I'm the neighbor from upstairs, can I borrow some s*x? Stars. This book is an absolute hoot, although I am pretty sure the author didn't intend it to be that way, I hope that the version that is released for purchase has been fully edited and spell checked, because to be quite frank I was laughing so hard at points I pretty much lost what was going on in the story....As below -~ Spamming Tissues - Pretty sure they were spasming, but hey what do I know.~ Not long after we ordered in Italian and had it with a couple of wine glasses. - Were the wine glasses the starter, or maybe they work better as dessert!~ "Scared the leaving s**t out of me." - Mmmm is that the living.~ I wrap my arms around him and he buries his face above my bare chest, heaving heavily. - She must smell reallllly bad for that to happen. And the gold medal winner -~ A very distinctive bugle meets my middle, when a mighty eager Reeves lands between my legs.Unfortunately, as I said the above did detract from the story a bit, but if I am honest I struggled to find much of a story to begin with. It started out really well, we are given a definitive prologue for both characters, and their first meeting is unforgettable to say the least.Nia and Reeves are both battling demons, Reeves we find out about at the beginning of the book, Nia's more-so as their story progresses. I could empathise with Reeves somewhat, but the big reveal for Nia's past issues was a bit of a let-down, and I struggled to understand her whole reaction to it, and if I am honest I was expecting both of their pasts to actually tie up in some way. They pretty much spend the first 75% of the book, bouncing off each other like bunnies but vehemently denying they are a couple, to then come to the conclusion that actually they are a couple. There is a little added drama with Katie, Reeve's best friends little sister, but it didn't really bring any value to the book on the whole to be honest, and the last 15% where both characters deal with their pasts all seemed to just fizzle out. I did love the Dual epilogue though, it gave their story a pretty decent closure. There's something about Reeve's that put's me at ease, that just makes me want to, well, be next to him.Typos aside, the writing is good, I would read other books from this author without hesitation, I was just expecting more to be honest. I have heard good things about Sigal Ehrlich but Retrace was lacking in any real depth of story-line for me to give it more than the rating I have.ARC generously provided via Netgalley, in exchange for the above honest review.

Britton Review for Ramblings From This Chick. ramblingsfromthischick.blogspot.comI honestly couldn't wait to read Retrace by Sigal Ehrlich when I first saw the cover and read the blurb. I thought that this one sounded so good and I was really glad that it was a standalone novel. There have been so many serials and books in series lately, that I was really just looking forward to a good and complete book. However as much promise as this book had, I found myself having several issues with it and it wasn't what I had been hoping for.Nia Martins and Reeves Mitchell have both been struggling to deal with their pain and guilt. They each lost someone three years ago, and have been unable to move forward. They first meet when they wind up in the same hotel room after a mistake. But soon they are running into each other in their new apartment building, as well as the bar where Reeves works and Nia's new friends often go. As much as they are drawn to one another, things between them are complicated and they find themselves trying to fight what is between them. But when they are no longer able to fight it, they find themselves connecting with each other in a way they have never been able to do before. But as their new friendship with benefits starts to take over their lives, they soon begin to worry about how it is affecting each of them. Nia can't lose someone else and is afraid that losing Reeves will wreck her, while Reeves questions why his feelings for Nia seem to consume all his thoughts. Can Nia and Reeves figure out a way to move forward and let go of the past together?I liked Reeves and Nia for the most part, but I found them hard to connect with. Reeves was sweet and caring, but he was also completely blind when it came to some things. His actions towards hist best friend's sister Katie beyond frustrated me, and I hated that he allowed her to get away with so much. He tended to focus on her more than he ever did Nia and it really irritated me. Especially because one minute he was so great and tender with Nia, and the next he was cold and unfeeling towards her. I hated that he didn't treat her better and that he often didn't even give her an explanation or reason. Nia was sweet and kind and I loved her as a dance teacher. She was great with kids and also with Reeves. But she also would drop things far too easily and I didn't understand why she put up with everything that she did. She would get mad, but he would sweet talk her and she instantly forgave him with little to no consequences. It just came off as weak and I didn't care for it. I also didn't like that it was brought up a lot that she was from Brazil, and yet she didn't seem to have any of the characteristics that go along with that. It felt forced and as though the author had to constantly remind the reader of that, because otherwise it was easily forgotten. I did think that Reeves and Nia had a lot of chemistry and they definitely could generate some steam. But there was just something missing from these two for me.Overall, I thought that this was a story that could have been great but unfortunately got lost in the details. It felt forced at times, and I was never able to really connect with the characters or story. I felt as though Katie was far too much drama, and I really hated her. I don't think that she ever was able to redeem herself, and she just came off as a selfish and immature little girl. I wanted to see her experience some growth or understanding after everything, but it was clear that she only thought of herself. Reeves and Nia had really poor communication, and I thought that they seemed to just be going around in circles for most of the story. They were both having strong feelings for one another and jealous of others, and yet they couldn't even tell each other that they liked one another. It got old, and after awhile I started to lose interest. I think that Sigal did a good job of introducing more characters in this story that she could easily expand upon for future books though, and I am curious about Reeves' friend Jake. His relationship and situation were confusing but interesting, and I have to say I am intrigued enough to want to read more about it. I would read more from Sigal Ehrlich in the future despite my issues though, and I am curious to see what she does next.**Complimentary Copy Provided by Between the Sheets Promotions**

By Bianca @BJsBB The book is told in both Nia's and Reeves' POV.We start three years ago where Nia and Reeve had to go through something horrible - they both lost someone very close to them. And now three years later they're both in Cleveland trying to live their lives.Nia was just hired as a dance teacher for little girls and Reeve is working at Jake's bar - as a bouncer, but not really - Jake hires him out as some kind of security expert/bodyguard to rich people, or rather rich criminals. When they both move into their new apartments they meet for the first time.Well, not really - they already met shortly before - under very funny and naked circumstances ☺☺☺They're instantly attracted to each other. For Nia, Reeves is literally her dream-guy: G.I. JOE ☺And Reeves is totally mesmerized by this beautiful dancer. But of course, with both their pasts still very present in their mind, they're not looking for something serious. And then there's still the problem of Katie - a girl Reeves took on as his little sister, because her real brother isn't alive anymore. But Katie doesn't see Reeves as a big brother! What will happen to Nia and Reeves? Will they be able to leave their pasts behind to find their HEA with each other? Will everybody die at the end? Will there be a horrible Cliffhanger?Nope - I'm not telling you ☺Ok - I can tell you that there won't be a Cliffhanger!! It's a stand-alone Romance!!!____________________________I REALLY LOoOVED THE BOOK!I love a good, sexy romance...and this one was just perfect.Lots of sexy gorgeousness in the form of Reeves...There were some scenes that made me cry!!! ☺...lots of romantic and sexy moments!!The book was really full of emotions - full of guilt and blame and past problems that had to be overcome in order for our two darlings to finally find their 'Happy'!The cover and Reeves' background kind of led me to believe this book was going to be a bit more suspensy... there's not really anything suspensy about it - only talk about and memories of suspense. It didn't bother me, but it's just that the cover made me believe I was about to read a Romantic Suspense thingy ☺BUT I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF THIS BOOK!!!!I was up until 3am finishing it!!!!RETRACE was an amazingly beautiful Romance!About two broken & lost souls who finally find something - or someone - to live for again!I couldn't put it down! And now Sigal - hurry with your next book - I can't wait to see what the next one will be about!!!
