Two young men meet in Boston, in the summer of 1995, on a bus headed west. An immediate spark of passion ignites. Damon, 23 and Carols, 26 become inseparable for the next few days. Damon plans to visit his sister in Texas after being disowned by his father. Carols is heading to California in quest of a singing career. They spend three memorable days and nights in Dallas. Then it's time to move on to Forth Worth so Damon can spend a few days with his sister, Ilka. All seems well until Ilka gets Damon aside. She plies him with questions about Carols and their relationship. They quarrel. Damon, in rage, rushes out into the torrid night in an unfamiliar city. In the aftermath of a near fatal beating and rape, Ilka implies to Damon that Carlos might have been involved. She engineers a diabolical plan to break them up. The two young men reluctantly depart in separate directions. During the next ten year period, Damon pursues Reparative Therapy and later marries Joan, a nurse he met at the hospital. Carlos goes on to become a rock star legend. But he can't shake his love for Damon. To assuage his demons, he experiments with drugs and alcohol. Carlos longs to see Damon one more time after being diagnosed with HIV. Joan confronts Damon. They must end their eight year marriage. The ghost of Carlos hovers between them, she tearfully confesses. Unexpectedly, Carlos calls Damon and they talk for hours. Damon rushes to California where they joyfully reunite. Alas, fate haunts them with crises' they must work out. This is the sweeping ten year story of a dysfunctional family which harbor many shocking secrets. Can the two young lovers rise above them, or will tragedy triumph?

The meticulous crafting of the words, the descriptions, the crispness of the writing, the pain, the suffering of differences where not everyone celebrates differences. Rembering Lasts So Long By Sparkle I read and re read this book because it spoke to me as such a poignant story of love ...not simply gay love but the complexity of any relationship heterosexual or gay. This author does a spectacular job describing the personal difficulties the two people have with family and even other in accepting who they are and the rightt to express it. This book delves into family acceptance no matter who you are! Marvelous work by a gifted new author. Family is everything and we could all learn a great deal about it from this book. Can't wait to read more from this author

By Cindy Davis Remembering... is a riveting story of love, betrayal, and perseverance through the most adverse emotional conditions. It's a journey toward mental peace over obstacles that everyone whether gay or straight will remember for a very long time. I was involved in this story from concept to completion and I've rarely seen one come together as well as this. Congrats to the author for hanging in on this one--it's sooo worth it!
