About the Author Shawn Kobb is an American author living in Vienna, Austria. In addition to writing mysteries and thrillers, he moonlights as a diplomat and has lived and worked in Ukraine, The Bahamas, Afghanistan, and Washington, DC. If he told you any more than that, he'd have to kill you. Before joining the U.S. Foreign Service, he worked as a 911 dispatcher for a large city in the Pacific Northwest well-known for its rain. Not Seattle, the other one. While working as a dispatcher, he had ample opportunity to develop plot ideas while speaking on the phone with crime victims, murderers, naughty children, and schizophrenics. He lives in Vienna with his wife, a dog, and a cat.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Collection shines as a new author finds his voice. By David K Rocket Malone, why there aren't more noir/scifi mashups I don't know. Shawn Kobb seems to be hitting his stride with this one. While Kobb's previous book, "City of Ghosts" was a good debut novel, "Collection" shines. It's like watching a new author really find his voice and come in to his own.If you're a fan of mysteries, crime novels, thrillers, or scifi, then this book should be right up your alley.

Detective stories and mysteries are my favorite genres , and this book captures both . Maybe a touch of sci-fi thrown in there also . I see from Mr. Kobb`s website that another book is due out soon to compliment the first book that features Austria as it`s setting. I`ll be sure to grab that one too when it gets listed here on the Amazon website.

Old school film Noir detectve feel to this story and its characters. Very different from his previous book but a delight and quick page turner. Looking for more "Rocket" Malone yarns in the future.
