She has less than a week to train the sole heir of Valhalla’s throne how to master the Sword of the Myst before the two of them are to face off with the biggest enemy of the throne. The throne of Valhalla is in danger as all the residents of Castle Mount had just been murdered by an unknown faction. Xanxia, the greatest swordsman… or swordswoman in the Royal Guard has just located the one remaining heir to the throne. That heir happens to be the seventeen year old son of a farmer by the name of Mercer Knight. Only Xanxia can hide him and offer her protection as they seek to find out who is threatening the monarchy. At the same time, she can’t fight the enemy alone, so she is going to need to train her future king how to master the sword and how to master the magical skills of the Myst. All the while, he wants to get to know the woman beneath the armor. It's going to take more than just some Myst to get past those protective barriers that she's built up over the years. But as much as she believes in him, he believes in her. *This stand-alone novel is written in the universe of the Colonization Saga by Scott McElhaney* Editorial Reviews: "McElhaney's story telling is deft, well-paced, and with an ear for conversation" ~ Beacon Journal Book Review "The author does a good job of sucking you into the moment and feeling as if you are the main character. A new chapter in Kepler's colony By Christos Karalis **I highly recommend reading the Colonization Omnibus first, if you want to enjoy Scott's new book.**A new chapter in colonization series. Set a few generations after the first settlers, where the people of Valhala have discovered a mineral which gives supernatural abilities. A story that somehow manages to join science fiction, fantasy and romance. Not a fan of fantasy genre personally, but thankfully Scott isn't overdoing it, rather keeping the story constantly developing. It's more about the characters and the plot, not humans getting super powers. Waiting for the rest of the books!

And unexpected new direction for the colony series By The Big Blind Technofile In this continuation of the colony series, the science-fictional elements begin to acquire certain fantasy like attributes. That said, it is still grounded in the same character base, and this is a logical extension of the original series. And yes, it is still science-fiction, even with a more sword and sorcery direction--those sword and sorcery aspects are still explainable as a form of advanced science and a logical outgrowth of the Valhala colony's innocent and isolationist ways.
