I'm a lover of Fantasy and Science-Fiction books, read also paranormal and things like that. But as this book was recommended in our bookclub, wanted to give it a go.If you love to know more about the history of one family, written through the archives they found and the stories they managed to tell and pass on, this would be the ideal book for you. We get to follow the long ago relatives from the writer up to very nearby. Was a very interesting read, as didn't know anything about Tennessee before. Thanks for sharing this background!

I really enjoyed the stories from three generations of the DeFreece family. This was a neat idea the author Becky Corwin-Adams had. It made me think this would be a terrific way to preserve one's ancestry.Listening to these tales stirred memories about the stories my elders told me when I was younger. Many along the same lines. Hard-working humble families who were trying to make a living. I liked the part where she talked about what they ate during the week then having a big Sunday dinner. At the end of the book there are several country recipes from the old days that I'd try but a few I've had before.Olivia Searfoss did a great job narrating. She has a nice voice and kept an even pace throughout the story. She made this an easy to listen to book. Very enjoyable.Audiobook received in exchange for an unbiased review.

Author Becky Corwin-Adams has a gift for making whatever she writes about come to life, and this colorful family memoir is no exception. The author traces her family history back to her maternal grandmother, who lived in Tennessee. The book paints a vivid picture of rural life at the turn of last century, and is full of entertaining anecdotes and even some juicy family scandals. Corwin-Adams provides readers with a snapshot of Tennessee in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and then immortalizes the members of the DeFreece clan in the subsequent sections of the book.I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in genealogy and history. It might even inspire you to research your own family tree a bit more, as it did for me.
