About the Author When he is not on the tennis courts, Blair works as an editor, scouring content for grammatical inconsistencies and omissions, spelling blunders, and structural snafus. With a lifelong interest in interpersonal relationships and the human condition, his words are fueled by a zeal for language and an admiration for the beauty conveyed within a message. Blair was born and raised in Newburgh, NY, to a single mother. He is an only child but is lucky to count a core collection of friends as brothers and confidants. He attended Ithaca College and earned a degree in corporate communications. He currently lives in Los Angeles where he is a writer and blogger. He is happy...and healthy.

Schuyler is a gifted writer whose words are more like poetry. He takes us along on his real life journey as he battles pain, surgeries, and recoveries that no young boy should have to endure. And yet, through it all, and with the help of family members and friends, and especially his mother, Schuyler is able to experience "life." It would be very easy to shelter a child who has gone through as much as he has, but his experiences show that he was not coddled. I was very impressed with how open he was with his life story. I would imagine it must have been very hard to relive as well as cathartic at the same time. I did find myself wanting to know more about Blair at the end of the book. How is he now? Is he still in CA? This book was a worthwhile read that made an impression on me. It is not a book that I will soon forget. I would highly recommend this book to others, especially those who may be fighting a life struggle.

By Diane Adolescence Interrupted tells the story in detail not only of the coming of age of the author, but the story of this journey against odds that no one should ever have to face.The story begins when Blair is 13 years old and receives the devastating news of his health condition. In vivid detail, he takes us through his life and the challenges he encounters, through the hospital stays and procedures and his attempts to lead a normal life. His life is anything but ordinary.Hope and faith, persistence and courage – these are the traits that push Blair through and never let him give up – never let him give up on his health, family, friends and most importantly on himself and his dreams. While depending on the expertise of his doctors, and having entered adulthood he takes full responsibility for one last decision that he strongly believes will finally give him the freedom to live life on his own terms.Blair’s lyrical writing style will keep you turning pages, citing metaphors that give you pause for thought and even in the darkest times, never letting his sense of humor slip too far below the surface. In his own words, “No one knew what lived behind the smile.”

By Erik The author takes you on a breakneck trip, a true survival story intimately told, and I finished the book feeling, wow!It is a harrowing read in places - illness of an adolescent brain is hardly fluff material - but the account is riveting at each of its many turns.While the story itself is rather intense, the writer pulls you in with a warm, inviting tone, humor, and a character you can really root for. There is plenty of compelling action, particularly as the boy grows up, but the story's great beauty lies in its unfailing universal lesson. The human spirit is alive and well.
