The Saga of a Modern Cain and Abel. Strange, heart-rending, sultry and poignant, with events more turbid than those of fiction, it can be compared only with its Biblical counterpart.

The LeBaron Story, by Verlan M LeBaron

About the Author Author Verlan M. LeBaron was born in the little Mormon town of Colonia Juarez in Chihuahua, Mexico, in 1930. His parents had been excommunicated from the Mormon Church for practicing plural marriage, a doctrine which had been discontinued by the church in 1890. Verlan attended school in Colonia Juarez where he graduated from the Juarez Stake Academy. He later attended the Brigham Young University. Though he had been a member of the Mormon Church, he was excommunicated when he followed her father's belief in plural marriage by taking a second wife. Friendly and fun-loving, he possessed an unusual ability for making and maintaining friends, as well as earning their respect, despite differences in belief. To Verlan a stranger was just a friend that he had not yet met.

By Loni Bennett After reading as many books as I could find about the history of polygamy this book touched my heart. I felt like I knew many of the pepole Verlan wrote about, I am so happy this man shared his story and deepley saddend by his death, I can see how his wifes Loved him so much I think he is in heaven! I am not morman nor do I think polygamy would work in my life,I do how ever think if it works for you and you are happy out side judgment should not take place, (in less you are in warren jeffs sick world! He and his followers are every bit as sick as Ervil) The Lebarons have a story that will always stay close to my heart, Ervil is or was just crazy and much as I hope Verlan is with God I hope Ervi is in hell! Charlotte Le Baron to me is a amazing! What a strong Beautiful lady! I really Like all his wifes who have shared storys. This book is not a easy read and you can not get it on kindle, I got a hard cover signed from amazon. Needless to say this is a keeper! PS. I Love Grandmother Maud!

The LeBaron women will truly inspire you with the hardships they overcame and the incredible drama of their lives. Charlotte K. LeBaron is particularly impressive with the quiet dignity she maintained throughout her many ordeals. This is one woman who truly commands respect. A must read for anyone interested in this compelling family saga.

A Revealing History of Fundamentalist Mormonism & It's Polygamist Lifestyle By Tejano Bob Of the 25 chapters, the first 18 chapters preach the gospel of the "Church of the Firstborn" as well as relate its history. We don't start learning of the murders and other atrocities of the renegade, Ervil LeBaron and his band of cutthroats until Chapter 19. It's difficult to understand how otherwise intelligent people could become so deluded as to be led into something like this.I downloaded a digital copy of the book. The transcript was pretty well done. A few words were truncated, as well as a few sentences, and parts of sentences were moved to other places within the text, but this did not interfere measurably with understanding the story.
