Wrestling with reality, my vision distorted, watching my life played out like a movie on fast-forward, jumping from one random event to another. I wasn't in a real-life drama but a nightmare. How can this be happening? Kirk's legs quavered as he tried to stabilize himself. I could feel my throat begin to swell when he narrowed his eyes and tightly pursed his lips. I struggled to escape the rising panic that twisted within my newly pregnant belly and coursed up to my fingertips. His nostrils flared as his index finger curled around the trigger. Oh no.... 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A Must-Read For Anyone Dealing With Suicide By Tony Funderburk Amber's storytelling style is colorful, compassionate, descriptive, and engaging. After reading this book I now know more about how to help someone who's contemplating suicide as well as someone who is dealing with the loss of a family member or loved one to suicide.I recommend it to anyone in those situations or anyone who thinks they ever will be.I loved reading this book because it felt like a good friend was talking to me.

From child abuse, mental illness, suicide, and finding God, each time you are told a different experience, whether it be happy or sad, they touch your heart. If you're looking for a book that you can't put down after you start reading it, this is definitely the one!

It had me laughing one minute and wanting to give Amber a big hug the next. What a brave and strong woman! I love her outlook on life including focusing on the mental health aspects causing someone to act a certain way rather than seeing the person as being bad themselves. Amber always seemed to find the good in everyone. Also, having a child with Down Syndrome myself I can totally relate to all of her feelings from grieving to pure joy and happiness with having my child in my life. I would and already have recommended this book to many people. I even have an intern who has to do a book report for her internship class and this is the book I recommended that she read and do the report on. This is a book that will forever be in my library and Amber will forever be in my heart.
