Herb was very young when he lost his grandfather Solomon. His memory of him was at best, dim. When he came across writings, in Yiddish, by his grandfather, he became intrigued. After a long search, he was finally able to get those writings translated. What he discovered was a man with a poetic soul and deep wisdom. That started him on a long journey to find out more about the man and life and origins, including a trip Europe along with his twin brother. The result was this wonderful book.As you go through the book, you can begin to feel a connection with Solomon. Many of us have similar backgrounds and heritage. With some changes of dates and names, It could be our story. — Norman Salinsky

Solomon Siegel was quite a prolific author of poetry, prose and stories. While his original works were all written in Yiddish their poignancy, wisdom and humor are still evident through the English translations. The author of this book, Solomon Siegel's grandson Herbert, has published a labor of love and has ensured that the values, philosophies and traditions of his grandfather's generation will be available for future generations to understand and appreciate.
