6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A Character Study as Well as a Historical Study By HOWARD M MERKEN I liked this short collection of essays. It sheds light on Jewish history, especially the era of the founding days of modern Israel, and the decades before and after that. I like Begin anyway, probably because I have similar attitudes on life, even if not the same exact religious views.Historically, there is the reality of Begin, who he was, what he believed, and what he did. Presented here is a bit of a character study of Begin vs. Ben-Gurion. Begin's "The Revolt" was also a character study, but only of Begin himself, so this collection of essays extends the character study.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. The real Menachem Begin. By Allyn Bashein This book gives a real world portrait of Begin to those those whose knowledge of Menachem Begin is limited to how he was maliciously portrayed by David Ben Gurion and disrespected by Jimmy Carter.
