By juan gomez Segunda parte de esta increíble Trilogía, tal como la primera, te atrae la lectura y despierta el deseo para descubrir que hay más allá desde el primer momento, solo que esta parte te va a sumergir en el origen del enigmático Chio y te aclara muchas interrogantes sobre el conflicto de su etnia.Al mismo tiempo la trama es enriquecida con la aparición de un villano el cual hará contraparte al personaje central.Excelente prosa con giros sorprendentes en la historia que te mantendrán adicto al libro.Al leer la primera y segunda parte ya querrás leer el cierre de esta fantástica y creativa historia. En mi opinión vale la pena leerla, quedaran encantados y soñaran despiertos con las imágenes evocadas.

These are some of the key themes I would choose for this book. Of course the book is taboo. Anyone buying EROTICA should realize that. The book deals with a man who outfits his home with a sort of dungeon in which he lures women, straps them down, and has sex with them. After wards, several of the women come back to him willingly and even help him with his next "victim". If this sort of work offends you, then I suggest you look for something else. For the sort of book this was supposed to be, it was amazing.

He commits an unnnatural act by force and she enjoys it so much, that she asks for it and not the other, second time around. Throughly enjoyed this book, as the heroine becomes so depraved that she helps her ravisher to seduce other acquaitances whom she too enjoys. Only downer was that no other men occur.

20 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Oh, those Victorians... By Reginleif II Ignore the offended fussings of the previous reviewer. Yes, this novel eroticizes rape. But keep the context in mind: Victorian England, where/when "proper ladies" would never admit to liking sex, let alone seek it out. If you're looking for something to affirm your womynhood, there are plenty of other erotic reads out there nowadays.Subtle, the book is not. Then again, some of us like the heavy-breathing, over-the-top, exclamation-mark-laden descriptions that characterize much Victorian erotica. And some of us don't particularly care that much if the plot isn't comparable to that of something on the New York Times best-seller list. Granted, I'd have liked to see the other female characters developed as much as Alice's is. Just take the book as a sequence of vignettes, not a fully integrated novel.I do have two issues with this book. One is that the author seems to be a little unfamiliar with the workings of female anatomy (which might have been more common then among men than it is today): the women do not seem to lubricate until orgasm, when they "gush" in a manner similar to ejaculation. The other is that the final vignette, involving a mother and daughter who are forced into sexual acts with one another, is way beyond my limits and probably many other people's limits as well.

It is beautifully written in prose that children can understand, without being overly simplistic. The format – letters between Arturo and his parents and second-grade teacher – is unique and effective. It draws the reader into Arturo’s mind and world, bridging the nearly 150 years between our time and his. We get a sense of what it was like to be a student in nineteenth century Italy while also enjoying a timeless story of how sacrifice, hard work, and people who believed in him made a financially poor child realize his abundant wealth of talent. I read it to my very musical toddler (shortening some of the prose to match his attention span), and he adores it. The beautiful illustrations and the compelling story really keep his attention. I look forward to reading it to him as he gets older and can more fully enjoy the wonderful literary experience that is “Arturo Takes a Bow.” ~Marisa Cianciarulo

I can’t wait until my grandson is old enough to read and understand this delightful biography of Arturo Toscanini’s childhood and teenage years. The use of the epistolary method—in which the author tells the story in a series of letters between Arturo, his teachers and his family—works really well. This story of a teacher’s discovery that Toscanini is a musical prodigy and of the efforts that she and his very poor parents make to help him get a scholarship to the premier music school in Parma, Italy makes for a very uplifting book. At school, Arturo has trouble following the rules because he wants to play music all the time, even when it is not allowed. Finally, his genius is recognized and the rules are changed to permit Arturo and his fellow students to pursue their love of music. The illustrations are absolutely perfect. Highly recommend.

The reviews -- there were three -- were unanimous: the children loved the book! The text is easy to read and comprehend, and the story is compelling. The kids loved the format of telling the story through letters back and forth among the main characters. The illustrations complemented the text very nicely. But, here is the twist: I, and the parents of the children for whom the book was intended, enjoyed the story equally. I learned a good deal about Toscanini and the childhood of a great figure in the history of music, in a truly easy and engaging way. In short, this is not a children's book. It is a family book! A true find.

I loved the first season of the anime and was delighted when the manga was translated and published in the US. As of now, I feel like the series just gets better and better. At this point (Vol 7) we are just starting to learn some of the mysteries of Yato's past, and we are starting to learn a little bit about the truth identity of the Stray.Yato's relationships with both his shinki and his one devoted follower continue to develop. Since I myself am a Yato x Hiyori shipper, I'll just say that there are some really sweet scenes in this volumes, as well as some hilarious/horrible ones, and leave it at that. There was definitely a lot to enjoy.This volume provides closure on some issues, while opening up new questions. I can't wait for the next volume. Highly recommend this series to anyone who likes supernatural action, comedy, and romance.

And it turns out it’s the complete opposite of what I thought, but also in a good way. It surprised me, but I wasn’t disappointed, and it wasn’t anticlimactic like it could have been.Instead, Hiyori is not talking to Yato because of what he did. But then she throws a party with all the Gods and shinki that she knows, including Yato and Bishamon. Which causes some drama, but mostly a lot of hilarity. There’s more problems for poor Hiyori, when Yato takes over her body and goes crazy at her high school, giving her a bad reputation. And there’s another cliffhanger at the end, where something surprising and bad is revealed about Yato and the Stray.The most important part of the volume, though, is when Hiyori makes Yato a mini-shrine. She thinks it’s no big deal, just something to cheer him up. But to the Gods, it’s showing that he’s remembered and honored, and it gives him a step up in recognition. It’s a really important step for him, and it’s sweet how much it means to him.I’m just seriously enjoying this series. It’s hilarious but serious when need be. By KateBishop This volume is a little more light hearted than the previous one, but still pulls at your heartstrings as well. We get some new faces and new questions that I'm really looking forward to finding out more about.Also, as always, there's some excellent interactions between Yato, Hiyori, and Yukine, along with the other gods and shinki. I can't wait to see where this series goes.

8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Disappointed In This One By Daniel Bowen I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was eagerly awaiting this one. Even pre-ordered it. While it was a good continuation it wasn't as cute and witty as the first one. Boris is a moose shifter with PTSD. Jan is an artic fox shifter. For years they've been doing this back and forth dance over their relationship. It isn't until Jan is in danger that Boris steps up his game. But as that happens Jan backs down. She changes her tune, changes how he sees her, finally giving up, only to change her mind. Again. So then she's doing everything she can to keep him.Boris and Jan were so caught up in the 'foreplay' that we never see those tender moments, the romance and caring. Sure they shared a love of guns but they came at every stage so awkward. The story almost reads like a young adult, nothing was smooth on either of their parts towards each other. Nothing was planned, each move was spontaneous. They don't know each other and that's proven time and time again.The story had a lot of potential. Unfortunately the romance wasn't there for me. They don't finally connect until the end where once again they're defending each other. While the moose aspect of Boris's character came thru, that he was this stubborn hard headed guy, the moose comments from Jan were carried a bit too long and too far. When a situation could have resulted in humor, instead it just fell flat. An example is when Boris is handcuffed to the bed and Jan's father and mother show up. . . in the bedroom. . . And Boris is naked under that sheet. . . And as shifters of course the room smells of smex. . . . But. . . Was it funny being caught by her parents? . .. . No. He's embarrassed and Jan is overjoyed to see her parents, she completely zones out on Boris and how he feels. She completely forgets about him.So yeah, I'm shaking my head over how thoughtful they are towards one another when that bedroom scene happens towards the end of the book. The connection is growing but not firm and not romantic at all. - Dan's Wife

But still enhanced by reading the first book but not mandatory. I love the humor and conflicts within this story. Lots of action going on with some loving in-between. I loved Jan’s parents. Awesome character interplay throughout the book. I also enjoy how the author doesn’t stick to just one breed of shifter either in the group or in the mating’s. Kept my interest thru to the end. Well written and very entertaining to read. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

By Sophia Rose This is the second book in the Kodiak Point series and one I was delightedly eager to grab up and read. And why may you ask? For Boris the bullheaded and soul-weary moose who refuses to act on the mutual attraction he feels for a certain gorgeous female and Jan, the arctic fox shifter who also happens to be just the thing to soothe, heal and love on this misguided male by hell, high water or maybe just her mama's double-barrel shotgun.Chronologically, this story begins three-fourths of the way through the first book taking a parallel course for a time before following its own path. Yes, this is a not-so-subtle hint that they should probably be read in order.Boris along with a handful of guys from his military unit came back from a really bad war. They saw comrades die, but also were captured and tortured until they escaped. Unfortunately, all this did something to Boris and it is only by the tough tenacity of his friend, Reid, that he even came back as functional as he did. Boris left a gentle promise behind to a lovely lady and on his return he breaks it for her own good because he has changed and is no longer worthy- not that he ever was- of her love nor does he feel she would be safe around him since he experiences violent night terrors almost every night. He spends years ducking the lovely fox shifter that was to be his and just content to exist and protect their town of shifters until he is brought up short by a new enemy and a real threat to his fox.Frustrated is an understatement to what Jan feels about Boris' avoidance all this time. She would have moved on if she could, but her inner vixen and her own heart scream that he is The One. Too bad it took smashing up her beloved truck, getting chased by a pack of rogue shifters, and then drawing the attentions of Boris' skilled enemy before Boris woke up and paid her some attention. Naturally, he comes along reluctantly, but Jan has decided to outfox the moose and make him do the chasing this time.I thought the first one in this series began with a bang, but Boris and Jan's story just kept things going splendidly. I loved how the author wove in their romantic chase, the witty humorous dialogue, and the grand series arc about the danger Gene's crazed need for vengeance and another shadowy enemy set to destroy Kodiak Point. The themes of PTSD, unrequited love, vengeance and an unknown evil should have made it have a darker, deeper tone, but with true finesse through passion and humor this book stayed light and engaging with just a flavor of the other.The paranormal element wasn't stinted on either. I loved that Boris' moose and Jan's fox along with the enemy shifters were a strong presence in shifted form. The moose and fox are also developed with their characters taking on their animal's temperaments too. Simple stuff, I know, but just one more thing I love about this series.Oh and let's not neglect to mention the passion. At first it is just the sexual tension they both feel as Boris tries to deny them both, but then when these two come together Holy Hot Hunka Love, Peeps! They didn't miss a flat surface both vertical and horizontal. And Boris' shower, yeah, I'm claiming that bad boy for my own needs (I would not complain if Boris is still in it either).So, to wrap it all up, another abso-fab outing with this series and I can't wait for what is to come. Dare I hope it is a redemption story for poor Gene? Fans of light, yet caliente hot Paranormal Romance should venture to grab up this series before it gets much further along.My thanks to the author for providing the book in exchange for an honest review.

The book expound on how over eating can be much deeper than just greed but dealing with emotional and other issues that take root on a subconscious level. As a Christian woman myself I sometimes find it difficult to seek God in areas where I know he would be my strength. The author sought God through her struggles. Her perseverance, tenacity, fight, and strength so encouraged me. I would recommend this book to anyone that has been trying to lose weight and may have lost weight but continues to gain it back. I rated this book with five stars because it touched many facets of my own personal life and realize that we have the strength within us to conquer obstacles if we want it bad enough.

About the Author Born in Cambodia, Vanny Vorng lived through the cruelties of the Khmer Rouge Regime. He lived through the change of three different regimes, some deadly, and was old enough to realize what was really happening to his country. With his family he escaped Cambodia and went through refugee camps in both Thailand and the Philippines. After coming to America in 1981, he graduated with a B.A. in History and minor in Political Science in 1991 from Sam Houston State University. To more accurately tell his story Mr. Vorng intensely studied Cambodian History and politics so that he might better understand motivations behind the rulers’ actions. A learned man, he is fluent in English, French, and Cambodian, his native tongue. Mr. Vorng is no stranger to hard work and has had experience in commercial building as well as home construction, farm work, and rice field production. He later went on to gain experience as an entrepreneur and a business owner in diverse markets such as wholesale/retail, and the food service industry. He is an active member of the community serving as a volunteer for the Texas Cambodian Community, and he has participated in multiple fund raisers benefiting the community in and around the Houston area. Looking back on his life he believes the time is now right for his story to be told and for everyone to learn from what he has been through.

Once the author shows how everyting in his home country slowly started to go downhill, you can't put it down. How anyone can live through such a horrifying regime, watching their family die of starvation, battle sickness without modern medicine, work like a slave as you friends drop all around you in the heat, and constantly worry about executions, is beyond me. The author is a true survivor, and his story is one in a million. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes an underdog story and wants to learn more about the Killing Fields of Cambodia as well as the political intrigue involved with the multiple regime changes the country underwent during this dark time.

By Steve A much more comprehensive narrative to the Cambodian Genocide than the other books I've read on the subject. It even goes into Pol Pot's education and how all the regime changes during that time period came to be. If you are familiar with the events of the Khmer Rouge, you will probably end up learning a bit more about what was going on in the rest of the country. If you aren't familiar, then this book is a great introduction to the topic without being too pedantic. I was surprised at the extremes of human behavior. While staying serious, the book actually made me laugh at one point.

I cried so hard in some parts that I fell asleep surrounded with tissues. He escaped camps and bombings! This guy lived through it all! I can't believe he's still STANDING TODAY!!! It has everything action, drama, comedy, my head spun with all of the wit. It's a book that teaches you and entertains you. Read the book to find out how he made it here because it's a story you can't just tell out loud, you have to read it.

It's a memoir of Stephen's life to this point, publicly and privately; her worries, her triumphs--and her well-honed sense of humor.She's very open in describing her childhood as well as her adulthood in her own inimitable, lyrical way. Her word choices shine as though polished by 70 years of good living. Her thoughts convey a woman who's lived a responsible life, raised 3 children, stayed with a husband who hasn't been easy much of the time, and taught untold numbers of students at the University of Cincinnati. She also notes her political activism, some of which could have gotten her into no small amount of trouble--but she did it anyway. Her courage is visible in everything she does and writes about, though I'm sure she would demur.Books always reflect some part of the author. This book exposes Martha's great heart that cares for people she's never met or is likely to meet: the grandmas of Baghdad. That she's anti-war almost goes without saying. That she's a liberal politically is also very clear. That she grieves over what this country had done to itself and the world will be apparent to all who read this lovely book.I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves excellent wordsmithing, stories of exemplary lives, or peeks into one woman's private life and musings. You won't be disappointed.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful memoir By Mary Jo Pullen I met Dr. Stephens on one occasion but mostly I knew OF her through a mutual friend. Having read this book, I feel that I might now know her. Her stories invite us into the life of a complicated woman who lives in a remarkably simple way. She has truly participated in this world rather than just letting the world happen to her. I find her prose to be lyrical and the structure of her narrative very comfortable. May we all accept the responsibility for this planet and our fellow persons that Dr. Stephens expresses in this book.

So when her car breaks down, she has to accept help from two rednecks and as they continue traveling to California they find more people who need help and Vivian becomes the mediator trying to keep the peace. As they continue toward their destinations she has to decide who to trust and who is only out for themselves, and that's before the dead start coming back to life. With new circumstances at every turn can she learn how to take care of other people and be taken care or will this new reality be the breaking point on what was already a crappy life?Vivian is strong and sure of herself, she doesn't let the little things bother her. She's young and hardened in some things, but naive in others and it makes for an interesting mix in a character.Axl has had a hard life and when it comes to people there's his brother and then everyone else. But he sees past what most people want him to and sees the truth of a situation before most others. He's hardened most of the time but he can be a big sweetie.Angus is an ass plain and simple. He's easy to read and even easier to get on the wrong side of. The only person who can get through his thick head is his brother and while Angus thinks he's in charge you can see where Axl is pulling the strings too.Each character his their own troubles and while it's all told from Vivian's POV you see allot of what everyone else is going through. The story is interesting and it makes you feel like you're right there with them trying to survive the end to the world. Definitely gonna be a series I'll be following as it comes out.

By Amazon Customer Love the way this book takes you through the Zombie Apocalypse from the onset of the virus to the dead rise. Falling in love with the characters happens quite easily. Feeling their pain, anxiety, and rare joy becomes second nature. Can't wait for the next book!

I really can't wait for October now and that comes from someone that hates to see summer end, It will be worth it to get the next book!
